The huge TV series, Downton Abbey, hit our screens way back in 2010 and shortly after became one of the first period dramas to make it across the pond, instigating a wave British TV giants ITV and the BBC are still riding today. On 13th September, we will be treated to a full feature-length film following the lives of Yorkshire aristocrats, the Crawleys, and their servants.
The TV series earned a Guinness World Record in 2011 for having ‘the highest critical review ratings for a TV show’ – although that has since been beaten by Breaking Bad, which also has a film in the works. The first episode of the fourth season attracted 9.5million viewers in the UK and then 10.2million when it premiered in the US – a faithful following ready to be tapped into for major box office gains.
The film will likely be one of the biggest hits of the Autumn, setting a precedent for all that follows that season. We’ll be auctioning each week off from Friday 6th so keep your phones ready, you don’t want to miss this one!
