The latest in the X-Men Origins series, Dark Phoenix follows the rise and fall of one of the most powerful mutants to ever live. Jean Grey’s phenomenal abilities become her greatest weakness and her team is confronted with a monumental decision – their friend or the rest of the world. That age-old moral dilemma, whose life is worth more?

Game of Thrones’ star Sophie Turner returns as the young Jean Grey, alongside the usual suspects – Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender. Sophie Chastain also joins the cast in an unknown role. Hugh Jackman will not be returning… for obvious reasons.

With its strong female lead and well-established back story (and hence, fanbase) we’d expect Dark Phoenix to pull in about $400-500m, based on previous X-Men Origin movies. One thing to note though is that part of its run in the box office is alongside Captain Marvel and Infinity War: End Game – a bold, and perhaps provocative choice by the respective production companies. Although let’s be honest, there’s a clear winner here when it comes to the box office.
